Pre School Class
We are excited to welcome you and your child/children to our preschool class, which starts at 11:00 am on Sundays at Church in the Pines. This class is for preschoolers 3-5 years of age. This year our Preschoolers are doing the Bible-in-Life by David C. Cook. In each class the children learn a new Bible verse, along with a story and activities such as; crafts, games, and songs in order to bring the Bible to their level of understanding. These lessons will teach the children, in age-appropriate ways, of our importance to Jesus, how Jesus helps us, and how God made the World . We also invite you and your family to join us in our fellowship hall prior to the start of class at our coffee hour for snacks and refreshments. We ask that each child be signed in and out of the preschool class by a parent/guardian.
Kindergarten thru Fifth Grade Classes
Our Bible School Kindergarten thru Fifth grade meet every Sunday morning from 11:00-12:00 in the CIP Fellowship Hall. We meet for the first half hour as a large group for music, special speakers, and our Bible lesson. The children then break into smaller groups (K & 1st, 2nd & 3rd, and 4th & 5th) with their teachers to discuss the lesson. Our last fifteen minutes of class is spent reviewing thru a game or craft.
The children are also involved with a number of outreach activities in our community and overseas. Among these projects are the twice yearly visit to a local nursing home and the collection of different items for needy families in our community at Christmas. Starting this year the children will be choosing their every own pen pals from our sister church in Haiti. The kids also sponsor a child overseas.
Our goal for Bible School is to teach our kids God’s Word and how they can apply it to their everyday lives.
Middle School Class
The Middle School Class is designed for kids in grades 6, 7, and 8. The class meets at 11 am in the Portable Building right. Although various resources are utilized, the main curriculum taught is from Jacob’s Ladder (a DVD series in which teens journey to Bible times and experience stories firsthand) and Uncommon Junior High Group Studies by Kara Powell (The Life of Jesus, The Armor of God, Parents & Family, and Friends & Peer Pressure). We also have a wonderful tool, by Group Publishing, for assessing and discussing spiritual gifts. We strive to make their Bible School experience a positive one! We want them to be life long lovers of God’s Word. Through games and activities, time is spent each week developing friendships within the group. Ultimately, through the Scriptures and prayer they develop their relationship with Jesus!
High School Class
The High School Bible Class uses the Bible-in-Life curriculum by David C. Cook. The curriculum is Bible-based and Christ-centered focusing on a specific topic over three or four weeks. It presents a lesson plan which connects teenagers life experiences (work, home, school, etc.) to the lesson to get them interested in the topic, presents a Bible story to get students into Scripture, provides opportunities for students to practice the information they’ve just acquired, and encourages them to apply what they’ve learned to their everyday experiences. Due to space constraints at the church this class meets off-campus in a local small office building. The teens are transported back and forth on the CIP mini-bus.
Young Men’s Class
This class meets at a home near the church and allows young singles to meet and discuss the Scriptures and their lives. Recent studies have included material from Louie Giglio and Andy Stanley.
There are a number of adult classes that meet each week at 11:00 am. A women’s class meets in the portable and has a large presentation/small group discussion approach. They have used materials from Beth Moore, Lisa Harper and others. A Men’s Class meets in the church and discusses their lives through the lens of the Bible. A class for men, women, and couples meets off-campus at 11:00 am and presently they are having lively discussions on Christian World View topics.
Bible School meets Sundays at 11:00 am at the church and some classes meet in other spaces locally.
